Kangchao 250cc ATV help
Hey guys. I picked up anther atv and this actually has a vin and tags. Says it was made by a company called Kangchao and on the side it says S250S-3. The engine is out and missing the body and head. I am not sure if I will need to replace the entire engine or just the body and head. Can you point me in the direction to where I can buy an engine or engine parts? Thanks

Not sure what you mean by "body and head" but a picture of what you have of that engine would help. Googled it and I get a 250cc water cooled machine, though the company seems to still be trading and are listed by the Chinese "Ali-baba" type websites as selling both air and water cooled 250 bikes. There is an engine number under the engine, this may give you the "family" it comes from. A load of good photos of that engine are on 2007 Kangchao "Monster" 250 - ChinaRiders Forums but are un-focused for some reason, maybe you have to join photobucket, or is photobucket being awkward again?

By a strange coincidence, the bits that are missing are the bits that would show if it was air or water cooled. That 167FMM engine comes in both air and water cooled versions, and is a Zongshen copy of Honda's CG250. I would guess at air cooled, as the water pump drive is taken from right hand side, directly below crankshaft, and there doesn't look to be a place for it to drive from. I wonder if someone as bought an air cooled motor to replace a water cooled one, taken those parts off to change one to 'tother, and given up. Is there a water radiator on the bike? Getting another engine will be tricky, as the CG 250 will usually be chain drive, and that one is shaft. That angle drive may simply bolt onto where the chain sprocket went. On the other hand, it may not. I guess Alibaba would sell you a brand new engine for circa $450 plus taxes.
