I have a Coolster 3125R Quad. I was going going to clean out carb and forgot I had taken out spark plug to replace it. I connected battery and the connector to the regulator started smoking. The white wire connector got real hot to the point it started smoking. There is brown now in the connector for the white wire pin. My assumption is the regulator is cooked. I cracked open the stator case and the stator looks black too. Ordered both from Coolster site.
Any thoughts on why this occ


urred? Was it that I did not have a spark plug in when I tried to start it? I doubt it as the smoke started before I turned it over.

 

There should be a fuse between rest of wiring loom andpos wire to solenoid on battery to prevent it happening, but if you connected the battery the wrong way round, it cooks the regulator.
