Kill Switch Question
#1
I picked up an Eton 50 Quad. Got it running, but can't turn it off. The key needs to be on to start, but won't turn it off. The switch on the handle bars won't do it either. I watched a couple videos and thought I could put a toggle switch between the wire from the CDI to the coil, but as soon as I did it killed the CDI. I've found a wiring diagram, but it's tough seeing the wire colors to try and track down what goes where. Is there a simple way I can do this?

Yes, Etons were "different" they used an earth to run ignition switch and kill wire, almost all other Chines/Taiwanese bikes are earth to kill. You could put another switch in the kill wire to cut power to the CDI and kill it, or in either exciter coil wire, or trigger coil wire, to CDI, or simply buy the correct CDI. If you do have the correct CDI and it is doing this, someone must have fitted a non genuine ignition switch.
