Spark Test Not Right
#13
Yes, either your initial check for volts at the ignitor was wrong, or something is draining the power from those wires. Check the trigger coil isn't earthed, being a two wire version it shouldn't be.

Are you saying you now get the 1v at the ignitor plug's trigger coil wires if you wiggle other wires about? This would indicate a short or broken wire. If it is a break and you can't find where, you can bridge it by piggy backing another wire from stator plug to ignitor plug, into the offending trigger coil wire.

Unfortunately the method above didn't fix the issue, Just to elaborate when testing the ignition coil the spark plug is ground on chassis , initially when engine turns over there is 2 sparks then nothing. This pattern occurs each time the ignition is turned on and off .

With ignitor ignition you often get a spark when you turn ign on or off as that is how the old points system, on which it is based, worked, the points opened and closed to make the coil spark. This at least proves the coil is OK. So, either the trigger coil, the wires to the ignitor, or the ignitor, is at fault. If you are sure that you are getting 1v between the black/red and blue/yellow at the ignitor, and that the green is earthed, and the pos wire (white?) is 12v with ign on, at ignitor, then it has to be an ignitor fault.

The 1v was intermittent it turned out to be the wires in plug connections to Cdi as you had mentioned the trouble shooting earlier in the post , So had engine running and starting well, , then one morning we had a heavy frost and you guessed it, Engine would crank over but it wouldnt start , I'm not sure if this is an issue with the automatic choke ?
