Hey everyone........

I will be down at the river approximately 4:45 PM. I will need someone to come grab me at the depot as the mini van will not make it. I was looking at the POS today and it has ZERO ground clearance. I will need to hitcha ride in a truck as I have a few items to haul down to the river (Ice chest, chair, canopy, buns, etc). Someone else is gonna have to bring the firewood (if anyone wants to have a fire after dark).

MIke....I may try it....I too have seen cars down there many times...I will have to decide.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Just a quick reminder that the August meeting is to be held one week from today on Saturday, August 28, 2004, on the S. Canadian River at Purcell. The meeting is scheduled for 6:30 PM so that there will be adequate time for riding before and after. There will be driving directions at the bottom of this correspondence.

One quick note for all of the new members from Seminole. A lot of the club activities are discussed on the ATVConnection.com Forums. If you are looking for a riding buddy this is a great place to post your ride info. If you would like to sign up for a user name but aren't quite sure how to go about it please let me know and I will assist you as best I can.

You simply need to go to WWW.ATVCONNECTION.COM and click "forums" on the left hand margin. You then see many items, click on the one labled "Club News and Events," and then you will see the Central Oklahoma ATV Club listed there among the subjects, usually towards the top (Meaning it was the subject most recently replied to). You can read posts all day long without without creating a user name, but to reply you must create a user name. Also...you might want to click on "Last" so that you do not have to read through the 70 someodd pages of posts. I look forward to seeing many of the new members on the forums.

To access the meeting site on the river I am going to give you the following directions. If you are coming from Seminole I am assuming you are coming from the east on Hiway 39. You will go through Konawa, Asher, Wanette and Lexington. From Lexington you will continue across the bridge into Purcell (There may be delays due to construction). Immediately after you cross the bridge continue going west one block. and then turn left (South) and go one block south to MAIN St. Turn left (East) on Main street and continue East on Main street until it dead ends at the bottom of a steep hill. Immediately in front of you, you will see the AMTRAK depot.

Here you have two choices. On your immediate left you will see an old red brick, warehouse, if you wish to park here and ride to the river you may do so. If you choose this option please park NORTH of the warehouse. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD YOU PARK AT THE AMTRAK DEPOT. We enjoy a rather tenuous relation with the railroad and we do not want to strain this. To reach the river follow the directions below.

If you opt to drive/park on the river you will turn right (South) at the depot and continue approximately 1/4 to 1/2 half mile south and then turn left to cross the tracks. You will then turn left again and proceed north for approximately a mile (give or take). You will go through two low spots. You will also see two places where you can turn back east on the trail system. DO NOT TAKE EITHER OF THESE TURNOFFS. You will continue North until you see a small yellow sign on the left hand side of the road which says "P-65" this is a railroad signal sign or something. You will go about 30 yards past this sign and then turn right, you will drive about 20 - 30 yards and then you will see the river bed...YOU HAVE ARRIVED.

Since there are many new people arriving, we will try to have someone there at the depot to show you the way to the river, but if no one is there, the above listed directions should get you there. If you have any questions please feel free to jot down my cell number (405) 550-6168 and give me a call. I hope to see all of you there.

Bob

P.S. It may seem redundant but I will send this same correspondence again as a reminder on Friday, August 27, 2004

I will be late tomorrow. I just got done working on the quad and the breaks are not working at all. I have tried everything I can think of to fix them, but no luck. I am going to try to take it to a shop and get them to fix them for me. Hopefully I will make it tomorrow.

Also. did anyone catch the weather.. supposed to be 80% chance of rain tomorrow and 60% chance tonight. I will be there even if it does rain, so hopefully I will see all of you there.

I think the rain is supposed to be done by noon, and the rain shouldn't be that far south, at least the last weather I saw earlier today.
