Hey guy's and gal's , Looks like "The Man" is trying to bring us down again. It seems as though in the past 6 months this river issue is spreading like wildfire. Seems that everyone wants to close access to the river . I always thought that the railroad had no problems with us.
Bob , im on for the 9th . We going to stay an extra day ?

Everyone,
I just spoke to Bill at the Sheriff's office. He told me that their office just got a couple of calls this weekend regarding drunk & disorderly folks on the river. Bill also told me that they respond rather consistantly to a variety of calls including 2 rapes recently. During the conversation, he told me that Burlington has closed access to all of their sites in the state except for the Purcell location. He tells me that Burlington has agreed to back the Sheriff's Department on any trespassing tickets that they may write, but they have agreed to limit them to "problem people". Bill welcomed me (us) to use the river at our leisure, but "watch the drinking". I guess that drunk people have topped the list for the conceived problems there. I was reminded of the state's public intoxication statute (which I seem to be quite familiar with, as it makes up about 40% of all arrests that I make). He also told me that the impoundment issue is for your protection. If you're arrested, you can decline having your quad towed, if you don't mind leaving it there until you bond out. He said they will not place any holds on the quad, but you have to pay for the towing & storage fees if you want it back from the wrecker company. All in all, HE didn't seem to be unreasonable. I (nor he) was there this weekend, but it seems like there were some problem people there and Zilla may have just ran across the deputy while he was already in a bad mood.
He asked me to stress to everyone that we, as responsible riders who don't cause problems, are not only allowed, but welcomed, to enjoy the river and access from Burlington. Lets just remember to tread lightly and clean up after ourselves & enjoy the river for years to come!
I also spoke to a Game Warden this morning who had something very interesting to say. He stated that the landowner owns the land under the water and anytime you are in a boat and tie off, get out, or drag bottom, you are trespassing. That's a different opinion from Bill the deputy. He said that anyone is free to use the river from bank to bank, statewide, but getting TO the river is where the trespassing problem occours.
I'm going to hold off talking to the D.A. until things worsen. There's no real need as of yet to risk offending anyone as long as things remain smooth. Out of sight is out of mind.

I am going on the 9th.
Brent, I can stay the extra day. I am not sure about Keith, he says he will have to check his schedule.
Brent, Will Lonnie and Shane be coming as well?
We should have a good time. I think Mike and Aaron are going...may be wrong but I think they are...Mike & Aaron let me know.
Brent...if we both ride in my Blazer, we will need to put some gear on the trailer (as I tend to take everything including the sink).
Get back to me on who all is going...
Bob

Bob,
As far as I know, My lovely spousal unit and I will be attending. Depending on what time everyone's leaving, I may even be on time. I did real good Saturday on 3 hours sleep. I can be ready to leave out by 11:00 a.m. Saturday if I can follow someone down there. We could even meet up at McAlester or something. I just don't want to get down there and be lost all weekend because I was too late.
Let me know,
