Andy, The deepest ive rode the river is 3.8 @ rivermist which is about 7' @ purcell. thats geting pretty deep. That is bank to bank which most of the river is shallow but the deep holes are very very deep and you cant tell where they are.

Is anyone interested in the Lake Murray camp/ride the 18-19th of this month? It should be warm enough to swim on this trip. And the kids are welcome again on this ride.

Hello gentlemen, it has been awhile since I was last on here, hope everyone is still doing well. I am working with a group of guys that have opened a new trail system out at Lake Draper and if you havnt been yet, you might want to check it out. These guys have spent a lot of time and money over the last couple of months making a good local riding area for the whole family. There is about 7 miles of trail open for quads and they are building several more in the area surrounding it. The trail is plenty wide enough and goes only one direction so you dont have to worry about having head-ons with anyone. We are currently constructing about another 4 to 5 miles of brand new trails on a really nice piece of property right next to it and I was looking for some volunteers who wanted to come out and ride it over the next couple of days to help us break it in before the public gets to ride it. All the trails are laid out and there will be no work involved, just need some quads to run some laps to help break it in so the trails can be well defined before it is opened to the public next week. If you are interested, call me at 210-4620 and I will give you the details. Thanks-Steve

Heya Steve,
Is this the new West Elm Creek riding area?

James

HEY GORDON,
Sorry I didn't reply to the PM you sent me. I'm sometimes a little slow at returning correspondence. Sorry we couldn't make it to the Cross-Bar Ranch last weekend. We had already made plans with some other folks and were committed.

Did you guys make it up? How was it? Were helmets "really" required or do they just say that they are like at Camp Gruber but don't enforce it?

It has been pretty quite here lately.

Cross Bar Ranch report.....
Pretty good area ( will be better when they get more trails "rode in".

Yes helmets and BOOTS are required. This is City owned land and their insurance company demands it. The boots can be any kind of over the ankle boot. This is not a bad deal as there are ZILLIONS of Chiggers. I have not had chigger bites since I was a little kid. Got about 30. Ginny nearly had as many.

Brad (mgr and Davis Policeman) is great. He showed us a lot of the area, but had to go get snakes out of Turner Falls. He made us brisket for lunch. I guess in Oklahoma, riding with guys with pistols is no big deal..... (Think about it, this is the 5th time we have ridden with our guys carrying pistols)

2800 acres of ATV trails. About 6 miles of a loop, and 6 or 7 more of trails. Will be a lot more when Brad gets it cut in. We should all go up there and ride it in lik we did at James' place.

3000 acres of horse trails, separated form the ATV trails. This is the way Seminole should have done it. ( BUT that is only MY TEXAS TOURIST OPINION... Why else would I drive an hour and a half to go to Oklahoma)

Anyway, we enjoyed it, and think it will be really nice one of these days. WE need to go ride there as a group sometime.

James,

Yes it is the new Elm Creek area, just one part of it is done(7 miles of atv). Our group is helping them out with some more area just behind it. Once complete, the whole area will be really nice to be here in OKC. Are people still coming out to your place and riding?

steve,

what kind of riding is the new area? (tight with alot of trees, open and fast for the sport quads, or lots of mud for the 4x4's) just curious what machine i should bring when i get a chance to ride it.

thanks,
