I'm so sorry to hear about your sick Grizz. I hope it is nothing serious, and can be patched up without a lot of effort. Are you statying at the hospital each night? What about the kids? Are they devistated? Maybe you should get them a puppy to cheer them up until your Grizz can get out of the hospital.

Hey Guys,
I heard a rumor that Sehorn Yamaha is providing an ATV to each of our state representatives this coming weekend. From what I heard, they are going to ride the South Canadian River at Rivermist.
I was told that the goal of this River Ride is to keep Oklahoma's rivers open to riding by showing our Reps that we are responsible ATV enthusiasts that respect and appreciate our environment.
Although I appreciate Sehorn's motives, I feel this "may" backfire on all of us when the Reps see all the trash and litter that has been dispersed under the bridge and along the river.
In any event, the Reps will be coming this weekend to ride. I'll post more info as I get it as to exactly when they plan on coming.

Use this to YOUR advantage. Have a bunch of trash sacks with you guys, and pick up the trash as you go. It was probably not ATV people that dumped the trash in the first palce. Just a thought.....

I had considered carrying a trash bag. Was sickening to see the trash repository at the river, unfortunately SOME had the thought that the rain would fill the river and wash the trash away. It has to go somewhere. Also witnessed a father teaching his child to throw water bottles in the river. When we asked the child about littering, his dad was upset and threw his beer can down and left. Most places persons are considerate, but always a few that ruin for everone else.
Can't fix stupid.

Okay lets address several folks in one message:
Andy B:
Last night at Wildwings NW Expressway, I posted a 13907 and took #7 nationally on the NTN Boards. Granted it was a Sunday night but it was still my first 13 and ALMOST a 14...It was great to get into the top 20 for my first time...Let alone top 10.
OKBOW:
Devils Backbone may be considered off limits by the rangers...depends on what mood they are in as to what they decide is off limits. Be careful they are writing tickets down there like crazy. They are using air planes and choppers to look for those riding "trails" instead of roads. According to them the only thing you can ride on is, "Something you would drive a family car down" and that is pretty much the language they use to decide when and where to write tickets....gotta love small men with small minds and big guns...give them a little authority and all of a sudden they are Wyatt Earp and Oliver Wendel Holmes all rolled into one.
James:
I agree with Gordon regarding the presence of legislative officials. This could be an opportunity to present a positive image of ATV riders. If they are being given an opportunity ride and converse with ATV'ers...I think it would be a good idea to make sure that we stack the deck and connect them with some good people.
Brent:
Glad you are back on the boards hope you enjoyed vacation..now get to work!!!

FYI regarding Honobia and Three Rivers....
They aren't using planes and helicopters to locate wayward ATVer's. What you are seeing is the peak time of the area's marijuana cultivation and harvest. There are remote illegal plots of marijuana scattered all over the hills in this portion of the state. From above you can see them due to difference in the shade of green. What they are looking for is human activity in and around these plots.
It's tough work doing drug interdiction in this part of the state. I know, I have done it. It's hot and it's very DANGEROUS. Some folks in this part of the state would rather leave you to be coyote bait than talk to you.
So one reason you are seeing a big crackdown in the ATV traffic in this area is due to the fact they have a hard time telling the good guys from the bad. If they can keep the good guys on the roads then it's easier to figure that the ones in the remote areas might be working the drug crops.
There's more to it than you realize. Those small men with small minds are your first line defense to keeping drugs out of your kids hands. Give them a break!

Wolfcop...
Actually I've been speaking to a reprsentative of the land owners...John Hancock Insurance Company, and he looked into one incident in particular and told me that the individuals were targeted via plane and the point at which they would emerge was radioed to Rangers on the ground. The rangers then waited for them at the trailhead and issued the citation. So according to the land holder they do use the aircraft to look for ATV riders. This was back in February so I dont think it was related to drug cultivation exercises.
I myself wish Hancock would terminate their contract with the state DWC. The best way to mess things up is to get the state involved. For 40 years you could go down there, ride where you wanted, camp where you wanted and fish where you wanted as long as you didn't cut any live timeber...and you could do THAT if you went to Weyerheuser and got a firewood cutting permit. When they sold to Hancock things remained the same until DWC decided to get into the picture...and like everything else they touch, the wonderful State of Oklahoma screwed everything up to the point that no one can do anything...gotta love beauracracy.
