Default Northeast Powersports Rally ATV Drags

ATV DRAGS- SEPTEMBER 25. 2005

We just wanted to give everyone a heads up about our ATV Drags at the Northeast Powersports Rally. It's a different spin on traditional drag racing, combining grudge match racing with trophies going for the quad with the top speed in each class. We know this is different, but we wanted to give it a try. If you try it out, definitely let us know what you think, so that we can make improvements for next year.

The ATV Classes are online, so feel free to check them out before you arrive. The classes are geared for recreational riders (utility and sport utility quads), and are focused on fun, rather than hard-core racing (you racers have enough races). The top speed measured in each class will win a trophy. You can make your runs at any time between 9am-3pm, no matter what class you race in.

How does it work? You’ll line up in 1 of the two lanes, hopefully with your buddy in the lane beside you. When the starting lights turn green, off you go! At the finish line, the flagman/woman will indicate who the winner was, and the radar guns will show the top speed for each lane (we have two separate radar guns). The top speed in each class will be displayed all day, and the winner will receive the trophy and a spot in our winner’s circle. By the way, if you want to grudge-match your buddy, they don’t have to be in the same class as you, because you can “spot” him 5, 10, or 15 feet at the start; don’t worry, we’ll have these lines clearly marked out.

When you arrive, please make sure you have a helmet, and proper riding gear (boots, gloves, long sleeve shirt/jacket, etc).

NY State requires your ATV to be insured and registered, so have that with you in case they check your machine. They also enforce NY State noise laws, so make sure you don’t have an illegally loud ATV.

Don't forget your riding gear - helmets, gloves and boots, and have fun!
