Our troops and Christmas
#1
I just sent 2 care packages to camp Liberty in Baghdad for friends and troops in Iraq. The post office has 2 sizes of flat rate boxes at 8.50 regardless of weight. Remember, these people are there so we can have a Christmas. It doesn't cost a lot to buy some books, magazines, travel games, cards, hand lotion, and foot powder. (has to be unscented)
People on this site are the best I've seen for giving time, money, and items to charities. Lets not forget the people fighting for our freedom and rights.
It takes roughly 14 days to get a package to Iraq, so there is still time to get stuff there for the holidays. We sent DVD's, games, ATV and motorcycle magazines, chapstick, hand lotion, hand sanitizer, travel wet wipes, xmas cards to the troops. The post office said books and magazines are a big hit over there. You name it, they will read it. It keeps them in touch with what's going on at home.
P.O. says no food due to the temps over there and be carefull of anything that can melt. i.e. lip balm. Chapstick brand is formulated for winter and summer so it's the best chioce.
Again. It's up to us to give THEM a happy holiday and show our support.
Hope some of you can send something over.

Another nice thing to add is a newspaper. Sure, it's old news by the time it gets there, but if you happen to see a newspaper from your hometown, you'll read it no matter how old it is.
Thanks for the post Scott 7493.
