Please tell us what new tires you put on your Rancher.
Type
Size
Tread depth
Type of Riding(i.e. 50% mud, 50% trail.)
Purpose( desired outcome)
Power( loss, and where in the power band)
and any coments.
We could all learn something for the future.
Thanks.......

I put 25" Goodyear Mud Runners on my Rancher. 8" in the front and 10" in the rear. I ride 70% trail and 30% mud.
I do notice a decrease in power, especially in the low end. I just use a lower gear and all is fine. These are serious tires. One inch tread depth. They are great in the mud.
On trails the perform perfectly. They pull out of rutts easily.
A word of caution. Finding a tire store/Gas Station to break the OEM tires off the rims was a real pain in the a$$. The fourth tire store final was able to do it. But they would not mount the Mud Runners. They tried to say my rims weren't beedlock rims as specified on the new tires. I called Honda to verify they were. But the tire store didn't want to here it. I took the rims and new tires to the local BP station to have them mounted. Mounted right up. WARNING! sounds like a gun going off when these tires finally seeded on the rims.
Best of luck!

Do you think the loss of power is due to the tread depth and 1" larger size? In other words would 26" tires with 3/4 " tread depth like a Blackwater result in the same amount of power loss? Exactly how much power loss did you experience, a whole gear? Thanks for the input about handling the ruts, that is a really nice feature for most of my hunting trips because we use a lot of the same trails. It sounds to me that you would stay with the 25" size if you were to put some gear on the bike and use an aggresive tread depth like the Mudrunner? Thanks a lot for the valuable information!!!!!

I have been running 26" Blackwaters and the performance is fine. There is a little loss in power but it is still more than acceptable. I ordered 26" Vamps today. I can't wait to see how that goes. A 26" tire includes the tread depth.

The stock tires on my 2000 RancherES seem to bite fine for almost all terrains. As far as getting bigger tires, I thought about it and decided against it as I,m sure Honda does a fair amount of homework on there product before they release it.I have gotton real good at seeing the difference between a 9" and 11" rock in the trail. The 9"ers
don't make that terrible KLUNK noise that the 11"es do!!
