I put one in my 95 300 Honda. It will steer a little harder with regular size tires. More so if you have bigger tires. I had 26x12x12 on mine. It wasnt that bad on trails but put it on pavement and it was very tough. If you are not a serious mudder you might want to think twice about it as you will lose some turning radius
I personally had no trouble with mine and neither did my friend. I dont have one in my current quad but as of yet I havent needed one.

I've got the locker on my 450. It steers pretty tough on pavement but if you're in loose dirt or mud it's not too bad. I'm running 27" Titan 589's, 9" front and 11" rear widths.

If mudding is your game then go with the locker, otherwise I wouldn't bother. If you're concerned about the few times you get stuck in the mud then maybe a winch is your answer.
