how much tire is too much ?
#1
I just picked a 1985 TRX250 for $250, it needs a little work but runs good. My first quad after having a 3-wheeler for a long time.
It has what I consider a bizarre tire combination on the front it has 21x7-10's and the rear is 25x10-9's.
needless to say it's got some pretty serious rake on the front end, not to mention ground clearance on the front end isn't much with the worn out 21" tires.
So, how much tire is too much? I found one website that lists a Kenda Klaw K-532 in 23x7-10. Would like a 24 or 25" tire up front but it seems like I'd need new 11" or 12" front rims to get a 24-25" front tire. not to mention this one site (http://www.psep.biz/store/honda%20tires.htm) says that my front wheel has a weird (4/130) bolt pattern that doesn't match anything else it seems. So, it looks like I'm stuck with a 10" front rim.
Obviously, there will be some negative aspects to having a larger front tire but how big is too big ?
thanks.
