Default XR400/650L Engine Questions

Hello, this is my first post here, and I figure y'all can help answer some questions for me. First off, are the engine mounts in the same locations on XR400 an XR650L engines? What I want to do is bolt a 650L into a TRX400EX frame. Is it just a simple bolt in, or will I have to fab the mounts? Also, would the CDI box for the 400 work on the 650L to allow it to rev higher? What about the connectors on the wiring? Will the headpipe for the 400 fit into the exhaust ports of the 650L? I've seen a 650L in a 400EX before, but I was unable to get any answers from the owner on the swap. Also, can you recommened any sites that have good performance equipment for 650Ls like Hinson baskets and such? I know I've asked a lot of questions, but I really want to do this swap, so I hope to get some answers from here.

Thanks,

Default XR400/650L Engine Questions

The 650L motor is the same as the old XR600 motor, just with a bigger bore...Dirtwheels did a project 600EX in 1999, I think. Check out there old magazines. They also did another article in a pretty recent article where they revamped the frame and plastics. And try to find a site called XRs only. They have a lot of hop-up stuff for the entire XR line-up.
