i have 18-9.5-8 and 18-11-8 turf tamer tires both on douglas rims, the 19-9.5-8 are grooved and the 18-11-8 are not. i bought the grooved tires used and the ungrooved brand new.i ride some trails and mostly mx, the tires seemed basically the same, maybe the grooved had a little better traction.will it help if i groove?how do i do it and in what kind of pattern?

I think that the grooving helps on the Turf Tamers. I think the best way to explain why is to use an analogy that the tire is like a high heeled shoe. The more space between each ****, the more weight that is put on that individual **** and therefore it will bite more, just like the shoe where all the weight is placed on the heel. I hope I explained that well enough for you to understand.

I have 18x11x8 grooved turf tamers on my banshee and i like them. I don't know how regular ungrooved turf tamers work though, i never had them on it yet. so i dont know what is better.
