need help on suspension
#1
i have a 2000 blaster and am looking to buy new front suspension. i ride mx and aggressive rec. riding with many bumps and jumps. i weight about 120 with all of my riding gear on. what shocks can i get that are fairly cheap and work good. i was looking at works but don't know if i need the cans(what do they even do)or triple rate or dual rate(what is the difference) i can get brand new triple rate with cans for 420.00 is it worth it is triple better then dual and please tell what the cans are for. also does anyone know how long it takes to get these after ordering?thanks

Simply put, the cans hold the nitrogen instead of mixing them in the shock body-those are emulsion shocks. The cans allow for better cooling and fade resistance. As for the triple rates, I called Works when I was evaluating my shock purchase and he said that for MX you don't need the triple rates. He said save your money, you wouldn't even notice the softest rate since you would just go right through it. I would suggest the dual rate non canister shocks for you. The blaster is a light machine so you don't need the extra fade resistance. Unless you pound the crap out of them, they will work great. Just make sure to have the oil changed in them at the minimum every other year. Later.

thanks for the help. do you mean change oil in the stock suspension too?i didn't know there was oil.yes i can get dual rate w/o cans for 265.00 but i can get triple rate w/o cans for just 30.00 more. wouldn't it be worth it to get the extra.dual rate with cans are 385.00 . so i should get dual without cans? i guess i wouldn't need them with a light quad and light rider?can i adjust the works shocks more then stock?i think i may go with triple rate w/o springs since they are just a little more then dual.also when i give my weight should i give them my usual weight or get like 20 pounds higher to grow in. thanks
