Sand tires for Z400 / KFX400?
I am getting ready to buy either a Z400 or a KFX400, and am really looking forward to taking it to the dunes once I get it broke in.
I have been doing a lot of searching on here to find out about sand tires, and I think have decided to get standard Haulers. However, I haven't been able to get a clear idea of what size to get, or how many paddles to go with.
The impression that I am getting is to stay with the stock tire size, (20x10x9) with 8 paddles...or maybe go up to a 10 inch rim for stability.
Also, I would like to take into consideration the fact that I will inevitably mildly mod it, say removing airbox lid, and getting an aftermarket pipe and jetting it. Will I have to get different tires (ie. more paddles), or can I get a combination that will work well in both cases? I'm not heavily competitive, so I'm okay with a slight compromise, however, I want something that I can have fun with, and still be somewhat competitive.

I think you would see a difference if you went with 22x11x8. The more sidewall you have, the more flotation you have, and will not dig in as easily. I ran 8 paddle extremes on my 400ex and even with a 14 tooth front sprocket the tires seemed a little much for that bike.
