tires for warrior
#2
Altho the Maxxis Razr is a good tire & hooks up well, it is a soft compound tire which is why pros often use it. Of course since they seldom have to buy them themselves, they're not concerned about wear, replacing them for each race. Also, as a 4 ply rated tire, rather than a true 4 ply, they may not be as practical for your purposes. They do make a six ply, however. My preference for your style would be the Pure Sport BanditXC. It is a true 4 ply with the Kevlar band rim to rim, giving great stability in hard cornering & excellent wear characteristics. The XC is about $5 more than the AT, but well worth the small difference.

I have razers, 20x11x9, they were on my warrior when I bought it (1 month ago). they are working great for me, they aren't the best in mud, but they do hook up on everything else I have rode on. I think they do wear fast, I went for a short ride on a paved road (don't tell) and when I got back I could see how much they wore!!
I think they make 6 ply Razrs, I don't know if a 6 ply lasts longer than a 4 ply, or if it just maked them more puncture resistant. Anyone know if 6 plys last longer??
Good luck!!

If I had to choose a tire for your type of riding, while also considering durability and wear, I'd have to choose the Bandit's. I had a set of AT's on my Warrior, and thought they were great--excellent traction! Although I sold my Warrior for a 400EX, after four months I hardly saw any wear. Just might get a set of XC's for my 400EX as well...
