ITP 589 M/S vs. Titan 589 M/T vs. Maxxis Mudzilla! Which tire is the best?
#1
I am in the process of purchasing a new set of tires and rims. I currently own a 2001 Bombardier Traxter 500 (with 26" ITP Blackwater's) and I do a lot of riding in the Everglades (South Florida), mostly in the MUD and some trail riding. I have been doing a lot of research over the last 2 weeks and this is where I am at right now!
ITP 589 M/S vs. Titan 589 M/T vs. Maxxis Mudzilla!
Out of the three tires listed above, which tire would you recommend? And why? Should I get 26", 27" or 28" tires? Also, I am looking at getting a set of Cast Aluminum Rims. Any ideas on what I should get?
I would appreciate your input very much!

I have the C-series rims with 27"589M/T and love them only rough at very low speeds under 5mph and even then its not bad they clean the lugs well as well

I to have the ITP 589's in 26 inch because I wasen't real sure on how much room I would have to swing the big tire... Probably could have fit 27's on but the Kodiak is only 421 cc and figured power might be an issue. I am very happy with the 26's work well in mud and trails and like RaptorRy says they are a little rough at very low speeds but just as you start to move it comes right out of it! I would think you would get this out of any tire that has the aggresive tread like the 589's.

I have 26" ITP 589's M/S on my kawa 700 prairie and they are AWSOME. Great traction, don't pack with mud, and rides good on hard pack. Only when I am running in the 50mph range on hard pack does it seem a little rough, but it is not nearly as bad as I though it would be. I work with a guy who has the mudzillas on his 660 griz and he likes them. They seem a little better in the mud, but ride a little rougher on hard pack, but not that bad.

Thanks guys for some of your inputs!!!
After calling every web site I could find about pricing on Bigfoot Kits, I came across a company called "La Ramp.net". I called and decided to order 27" Maxxis Mudzilla tires and ITP C-Series Type 5 Aluminum Wheels along with the accessories (pre-mounted) for my 2001 Bombardier Traxter. The total price for the kit including shipping, tax and title was $630 out-the-door!!!
Out of all of the companies that I called, they offered the best price available. The second best company was $800 out-the-door!!! Since the price was so good, I decided to buy another set for my other ATV which is a 2004 Honda Foreman ES. According to the owner, Keith, both kits will be delivered by Tuesday of next week!
If any of you are interested, I strongly recommend that you give Keith at La Ramp a call at 866-252-7267 or you can go out to their web site at www.laramp.net!
And since it rained down here in South Florida, that is 2 to 5 inches, the Everglades should be quite "muddy."

You made the right choice of the three. Have fun chewing up the mud.
