does this stuff really work like it is supposed to? Does it void anything or make it impossible to change rims? Lastly, are there any products that i should stay away from, or do they all work the same? Also, any tips or hints are very welcomed! thanks much, NICK

I've read some posts about the slime...I've heard that some people are having problems with slime..I meen it works for what its suppose to do..but I heard that some people said when they start getting at a fast speed..they would feel an imbalance in there tires..which of course is not good...also if it sits or after a good period of time I have heard of it eating at the rims a little...but I've used slime in my fronts..I havn't had really any problems from it...my fronts were just leaking air over about two weeks and I'd keep having to air them up every other week....As for rim damage..I'll find out soon if I have some since I'm getting new front tires soon..

I like Slime

I use half the recommended amount

instead of flat tires with nails in them,,,I find inflated tires with nails and a little dried green slime around the hole.

When you remove the tires,,the slime dries up and flakes off (easy wash).

Be sure to ride the bike for like 30 minutes after you inject the slime (to spread it evenly over the inside of the tire (so it is better balanced)

I might not use it,,,if I only did high speed riding (like dunes),,,but for the trails and woods,,,,,slime will spare you some headaches for sure.

a few more questions:

1. Does one application of slime fill leaks for as long as the tires is on the rim?
2. What is the reference about tires with nails?
3. Instead of riding for 30 min, can i jack up the back end, put it in drive and then leave it with the tires spining for 30 or so min? (not at too high of rpm)
4. Will the slime fill large leaks? ( Because I filled my tires about 2-3 days before a ride, and when we got back the left rear was flat. I didnt notice any difference in tire pressure before the ride.)

Thanks for the help!

Thanks for the help!
1) every time I have dismounted with slime tires,,,,the slime is still wet and sticky
2) Slime will stop small punctures (like nails, leaking bead, leaky valve)
3) Not recommended,,,,,,,you got a problem with riding for 30 minutes,,,,,,next time you go riding just fill them up just before you leave to hit the trail
4)it is meant for small leaks,,,not big blowouts, or pinches

sounds good. I dont have a problem with riding, lol, but figured that 30 min of constant speed would be better then the stop go kinda trailriding that i do. Thanks for all the help guys, i am going to take my tire off and figure out where and how big the hole is, then i'll see what happens

quad tires are a leaky mess (low pressure)

be sure to clean/seat the bead well,,,,,,and slime should take care of 50% or more of the minor stuff

I use it. My father in law sells a different brand of it at his feed store. It has little rubber chunks in it to stop up the leaks. Actually when putting it in, I had to keep taking a toothpick and clearing up the valve stem, it was closing it up! I pulled a few large screws and a peice of jagged treebranch out of my tires and havent had a flat since. I ride some pretty nasty terrain.
On cold days when I first take off, I can feel a sort of imbalance, but they feel good up to my max speed of 55. I plan on keeping my new rims slime free until I get a flat, then I will treat them all.

I avoid slime. Has never worked for me and just makes a mess.
Try the aerosol stuff in a can like tire jack or the gunk tire inflator. that stuff works everytime for me.
