i've been using slime for years in tube tires on bikes and it works wonders, except for pinch flats. my experiences with it in tubeless haven't been as pleasant. if you run a low tire pressure (1-2 pounds) then i wouldn't reccomend it. i tried it to keep my tires from going completely flat while dune riding (i run1 pound in the rears) and it jus leaked everywhere.

I had a flat the first time I took my vinson out. Had to limp it back 6 miles with it pulling the whole way. I have a friend say he's had slime in his tires for two years with no flats. So I put the recomended amount (1 small bottle)in each tire. I lifted it,and made sure it was stable-and put about 5 miles on it. I had it up to 5th gear. Took less than 10 minutes, and I did it at my shop. A little easier than in the dirt. Ive only got 25 hours on it,but so far so good.

There are other tire sealants out there that are by far better than "slime" brand. The slime brand will freeze and according to their specifications it should be replaced in two years. Also you want to stay away from any sealant that tells you to shake it before installation and the aerosol "fix a flats" are just a temporary solution and any tire that has been inflated with one of those cans should be emptied and refilled with clean air as soon as possible. In looking for a tire sealant stay with one that has Ethylene glycol as an ingredient because it will prevent freezing to usually around -30F and will have a higher temperature rating before it starts to brake down as well. These sealants should also last the life of your tires, no need to replace in two years.

When you are figuring out the dosage for your tires, there is a formula to use H x W x (? Factor given by manufacturer). You do not need to use the actual tire size from the sidewall for this calculation; most ATV tires have large lugs so if you measure the actual tire carcass size it is smaller than the stated tire size. For example my 26x12” Mud Lites actual carcass size is about 23x11”. I would stay on the lighter side of the dosage, you can always add more. A typical dosage will add about 3 ½ lbs to each tire. And the only reason a sealant should stop working is because you are running low on the amount of liquid, reserve, sealant inside the tire because it has been used up stopping leaks.

Also there is a limit to the size of the puncture that any sealant will repair which is typically about ¼”.

Just recently I did a bunch of research on this stuff, which is why I am able to give my opinion on the products.

I can't disagree more. The aerolsol "Fix a Flat" kind works wonders for me. It has succeeded where slime has failed.

I've used slime and had great results with it. I only put it in when I need it though, some people put it in right away. My friend put fixaflat in at tire and it worked fine and we slimed the other one about a week later. About 3 months later he replaced the tires with 6plys and the one that had fixaflat in it was noticiably softer.

Slime works very well for me but I also run about 6.5psi in my tires. The one thing I hate about it though is that it throws my Raptor way out of balance at high speeds. Granted I don't hit 5th very often but when I do it really starts to wobble. This didn't happen before I put the slime in so I have to attribute it to that.
