To Seal or Not to Seal?
#1
I know the tire sealant products work pretty well, however I'm concerned about the additional weight, and imbalance caused by the product.
My Prairie can do almost 70 mph, and I don't wan't any high speed wobble at that speed...
If (when) I do get a leak, I can always add the product at that time, add air > then ride home.
What do you guys think?

Good question..its been asked quit a bit...I hear both opinions...about people using fix a flat and slime...and some say that at high speeds theydo feel in imbalance..but I've used slime in my front tires and after adding it I rode at a steady speed for about 25 minutes and it evened it out pretty well....of course I make sure air pressure is the same for the front and rears but I didn't really feel an imbalance at top speed on my scrammy..but I've heard both ways...I guess its up to you..me I was tired of my fronts leaking out air over a period of time and not wanting to buy new fronts right yet I figured I would impravise and I've had no real problems yet.

My stock dunflops are all four slimed, I had a flat tire every week before that, now I have only had one, and thats from a very large screw. I simply air'ed it up, and drove around and once the slime got in the hole, it quit leaking again. only on frozen mornings do I have any imbalance, and its not much and goes away quick. I plan to have some onhand for when my new rims and tires get here. But they are 6 ply's and I hope they dont go flat at all.

I have run slime or fix-a-flat in all my tires for years. It has saved my bacon several times. Personally, I don't think slime works well, if at all! No problems with imbalanced tires or anything else. Not even the urban legend rim corrosion. The extra weight is worth the extra security. If you don't want to run it all the time, just carry a can with you. And, a patch kit for the holes that are to big for it to seal.

I didnt use name brand slime either. My father in law sells an off brand. It has chunks of rubber suspended in it waiting to clog any holes. Its kind of hard to get in because it clogs your valve stem as your squeezing it through. If it plugs that big of a hole, it has to be good for something. Does name brand slime have rubber chunks in it? im curious. Thanks.

I really think Slime is for high pressure tires, that are run at high speed. This forces the chunks of stuff outward and into the holes. Not the best setup for the lower pressure, lower speed applications of a quad! Several times when I dismounted a tire, the Slime would just be a sried up crust inside the tire.
