Default Air Pressure

I had a friend of mine tell me that he increases the tire pressure on his 589's to 10#'s of pressure when hitting the trails & mud. What do you think of this as he told me to increase my Mudlites to 8#'s.

we run about 2-1/2 - 3 lbs for the same. go over rocks/bumps much easier. I'd say most people run the tires with way too much air. 10 lbs seems crazy to me.

That sounds way high. I wouldnt go any higher than 7 for trails, 4 for mud.

I have alot of different tires, & I only have 1 pair of 26" radials that I run 7-8 psi in, otherwise even for harescramble racing, I don't run more than 4-5 PSI... alot of these tires are a much softer rubber compound than the 589's ( which have a fairly hard rubber compound )... a tire with a hard rubber compound typically can get by with much less air pressure... your Mud Lites have a pretty soft rubber compound, I'd probably run 6-8 PSI in Mud Lites, depending on both the terrain & the width of the tire & wheel... I also never run the same PSI in the fronts & the rears ( side to side being the same pressure is critical though )... It also depends on the tire diameter... there is a big difference between a 25" Mud Lite, & a 28" Mud Lite...

I like low because it's almost like adding another dimension to your suspension. why don't you try it my way, plus at a couple of the others suggested pressure and see what you like best.
