Default Engine trouble shooting...

Looking for some help, nephews ATV is not running right all of the sudden, seems that it starts and idles fine (surges somtimes) but when the throttle is applied, it dies. Also when it is cold, he is able to putt around on it, but not give it much throttle. when it warms up, back to dieing whenthe throttle is applied. Checked plug and replaced fuel filter, no luck, Where should I look next?

Thanks,

Exhaust pipe might be plugged up, with carbon.

FISH... does it run OK with the choke on, when it is warm ( fuel delivery problem ) probably particals or carb jelling, if not, it could be compression related... but need more info... 2 cycle, 4 stroke type of quad, etc...

It's a Dinli Beast, 2 stroke moter.

hb- interesting... I wonder if there's a rodent nest in the pipe?

newbeatle- I think it's got an autochoke. but does run a bit better when cold, but still not like it should. I was also thinking it might be fuel related.

Thanks,

well if the exhaust isn't clogged then I would defenetly look into the carb..It possible isn't getting enough air or fuel to be running properly... Also you might have a bad needle...or the needle is messed up or stuck in the sleeve...the needle runs your midrange..so you might be able to put around because when you don't use throttle your pilot jet is in use but when you hit that throttle the needle is in use so it could be the needle or main jet...just check to make sure your having full flow through your exhaust and then after that check the carb...clean the jets out..check the float and make sure your needle is free and moving in the sleeve.
