Mohawks really don't do well in the sand. order from best tire to worst is Razorbacks, smooties, and tie between mohawks and stock knobbies.

Smooties are better then mohawks? How does that work? Do the smooties help you turn in the sand, or is it a floatation thing? I'm trying to decide on sand tires for my new Raptor and like the new 12" ITP rims but only smooties are available in the 12" size. What does everyone think? I currently have Razors on my Warrior and they seem to work great.

Smooties work better because of the floatation and the way how the tire is ground leaving that rough texture to it. The mohawks I have seen are all smaller profile and some are molded leaving a smooth surface making it push a lot more than floating. The thing I didn't like about that ITP kit is the fact they only have Smooties for it... if a company makes razorbacks for the 12" rim I might switch. One more thing about razorbacks... the best ones are the Sand Tires Unlimited ones with 4 plys compaired to 2 plys for the other companies. They don't weigh more and if you want to save more weight you can comp cut them.

Blaster14 they may work good for Blasters but they don't work good for Banshees. Razorbacks are the only way to go.
