Hey I need some info people, I need to replace the stock tires on the old Grizzly. I ride in Wisconsin on 75% hard pack and rocks and 25% mud I need something that is not made entirely for mud, so I don't wear down the tread when I ride hard pack. I've heard that Blackwaters are the best bet for my type of riding what do you people think?

I have a friend who just took his Blackwaters off in favor of SuperSwamper TSLs. We ride mostly mud, so he needed something a bit more aggressive. Other than that, I know he liked the Blackwaters.

Blackwaters are probably the best "all terrain" tire.

I have 27" blackwater XT's on my Suzuki. They do work great on hardpack and on rocks. I rode a trail a couple of weeks ago that was 5 miles of solid rock and large boulders. Called "the rock garden". They grab really good. If I were you, I would go with the 27" XT's. You have plenty of power to turn them and you shouldn't have any clearance problems without a lift. I didn't.

You heard right flipper! Go with the 27"XT, 9's in front and 12's in the rear. They're great trail tires and perform admirably in the snow too. When I put them on my Big Bear I no longer needed chains for traction plowing. The 27's are actually 26" and you shouldn't feel the difference with all the power of that Grizz. Just hang on when cornering on hardpack cause the deep lugs really grab!

Good luck, damguy

Keep in mind the XTs are 6-ply and the regular BWs are only 4-ply. If you're running over sharp rocks or thorns, that could make a difference. Personally, I'd go with the largest tires the quad can handle--with the Grizzly, that's not an issue.
