Default Shaft vs Chain

there's also one other factor: for every 90 degree angle in the drivetrain, you lose horsepower (i don't know the exact equation). however, if that 90 degree angle is in the form of a countershaft with sprocket and chain, it is much more efficient than a driveshaft to a differential out to the axle.
