Mudlites?
#1
I've read that there are alot of you on this board who really like the Mudlites. I've heard that they wear quickly when ridding on rock and other hardpack. Is this true? Do the Mudlites wear any faster than other replacement tires? Thanks for any replies, Dan.

i have them on my polaris they really worked a lot better in the mud than i though they would mine did wear pretty fast but i always rode it on the street. i would get the 26's if you can fit them cuz that when the treads get deep.

I have them and like them a lot they are a great all around trail tire and do well in mud. Yes, they do wear quicker than others but not a significant amount. I have almost a thousand miles on mine and the tread depth is about 1 inch now (1 1/4 new I think) at this rate I should get 2k out of them before I concider replacing them, which is OK with me. I do very minimal road riding also.
The 25" and smaller Mudlites tread depth is around 3/4 or 7/8 I think. Starting with the shallower lug the life may not be as great. HTH

I've had my Grizz about 3 months and already have 800 miles on it, I don't think Mudlites are a good tires for me then because 650 of those miles are probably on rocks and gravel roads, and 100 miles in the sticks and logged out areas and 50 miles MAX is in the mud/muddy areas
Im getting 25" Dirtdevils to replace my stock tires, then when I get some xtra brownie points saved up with my wife I'll get some 27" ITP 589 m/s on C wheels
I'll run around on the Dirtdevils and during hunting season and trips I'll bolt on the 589's

Your post goes against all the things I have heard about the mudlites and every experience I have had on them after a year of them on my utility quad.
It is your opinion, and you are entitled to it, but what are you comparing these tires to in order to come to this conclusion?

The mudlites have a softer compound than almost every mud tire and are easily a trail / mud combo favorite. They ride exceptionally smooth on hardpack, but it is a 6 ply mud tire so you will not have the same cushiony ride a radial or baloon tire has. They do not have the charachteristic thump thump thump going down a trail that so many mud tires do.

What size are you running? They are mudlites, but they are a heavy tire. I have an 80 atc 185 and it struggles to turn the stock ohtsus so I cant imagine what a set of 6 ply heavy duty mudlites would do to it. My guess is you dont have the power to turn them, especially if you have a large tire.
Also, mudlites 26" and larger have a 1 1/4" lug depth while I believe the 25" and under have only 3/4" lugs, which would contribute to less traction in the wet stuff, but should give you an even better trail ride. Is your 185 equipped with suspension? Mine isnt and even with the huge baloon tires its a rough ride everywhere.
I just looked at your pics and it looks as though your mudlites are worn down quite a bit as well. Since you state you recently purchased the quad then it would seem to me as though you dont know how even the smaller mudlites perform when they have good tread depth.
Just some questions and observations, please correct or clarify whatever you feel you need to.
