Ok..I have an 87 250r right now and I need to get a better suspension on the front for the riding I am going to do ( jumping, whoops..so pretty much MX ). I was thinking of going cheap..like, Krypton +2 A-arms and works Dual Rate shocks with resevoirs, and then add a +4 Durablue axle in the rear so my front wouldnt be wider than the rear. Now..if I got an aftermarket front suspension would I need to get an aftermarket shock for the back? Is there any way I could get the same results but by going cheaper..I calculated everything and I found the cheapest way that I could possibly get, If you could find a cheaper way please share it. To help you out I am gonna tell what I NEED..i need +2 a-arms..and and a descent pair of aftermarket front shocks. I also have a question for the fellow racers out there..how do I get the top of my wheels to slant in..in other words " Toe out " I think is what its called, does this happen from getting +2 +1 A-arms or does that not have anything to do with it? Any help would be highly appreciated.

p.s. My riding style is pretty much a MX track on trails..but I would prefer suspension for MX.

Thanks,
250r

250r,

I believe the term you're looking for is CAMBER as opposed to toe-in or toe-out.My suggestion would be to contact a suspension specialist who builds shocks and/or frame components & after getting some additional info from you regarding weight, current skill level, etc. he could tell you advise you as to what you need now. Of course, as your skill level increases, you possibly would require some modifications to shocks. such as re-valving, spring rates, etc.

I have recently installed TCS front shocks on my Warrior & although the rear shock is a decent one, I soon realized that my new suspension was considerably more efficient than the rear.. so, to answer that question, you do doubt would want to do a rebuild on the rear sooner or later.
As a point of contact, you might contact Alan Knowles, the head honcho at C T Racing where I bought my shocks, or one of his people. He has many years experience building race bikes & quads. Their web site is www.ctracing.com
They don't list AN 800 NO. but do list an e-mail address.
A word of caution however..."cheap" is not a word associated with suspension or related mods, so you may want to practice saying $1000 + for the shocks. The extended A-frames, etc.would be additional.

Thanks a lot for your help..I know that suspension isnt cheap. Right now my calculations come out to about 1300 bucks, but I dont know how much it is gonna cost to have the shocks built to my weight..is that really expensive?

In most application it isn't necessary to replace the rear shock unless you go with zero preloads. Look at spending anywhere from $170.00 to $350.00 on a rebuilding your rear shock.

The camber adjustments are done with adjustable ball joints on the a-arms. Most aftermarket a-arms come with adjustable ball joints.

If I get +2 A-Arms with my shocks do I have to change my brake lines? Or are the stock ones long enough? I would appreciate any help!

250R, you will have to go with longer lines. If you stay with the stockers you'll tear them apart. I'd suggest steel-braided lines for improved braking and feel.
