How do I rebuild my $#%@ shock???
#1
I really need to rebuild my Rear shock on my 91 Mojave. I would appreciate any info that anyone could post about it. Specifically, what it consists of, changing gaskets and what else? How much will it cost me? If anyone knows where any how to tech articles are, PLEASE tell me! My shock is dead, my rear tires are all over the place causing me to lose major traction!! thanks!

Unless you own a motorcycle shop, I wouldn't mess with it. It has Nitrogen in it, set at about 250 psi. If you can get it out with out injuring your self, how do you plan on getting it back in? Or getting nitrogen, period? Any major motorcycle repair facility can recharge it for you, or any race shop can totally rebuild it for you. Call Race-Tech, or Pro-circuit, they do all that stuff.

I rebuilt mine last year, it wasn't too bad, it doesn't sound like mine was as bad as yours, but all I did was discharge the nitrogen from the schrader valve, the valve will regulate the amount of nitrogen that can come out, so it isn't really dangerous (but always exercise caution). I bled all the old oil out, replaced it with a little heavier viscosity synthetic shock oil, make sure you get all the air out, I mean all of it, it is a pain, but can be done, you may have to replace the spring as well, and reassemble it, and have it recharged (I had mine done locally for $5). As long as nothing is worn out on the inside of the shock body, that's all there is to it. If it's internals are worn out, I would send it off to one of the racing specialty places and have it revalved and rebuilt, not as expensive as a new one.
