New Roller Chain Which Oil
#1
I just recieved my new sprockets and Roller chain. Which oil is a good all around oil. I used the honda spray on sticky oil on my old chain but I have seen different things used such as baby oil, any suggestions would be appreciated. I ride from moto-x to x-x to dunes.
Thanks

Dale, You didn't say whether your chain was an o-ring or not. If it's an o-ring you need to use a chain lube designed for it;the non-o-ring lube can ruin your o-rings.
If it is an o-ring, the lube doesn't lube much of any thing anyway because the rollers are lubed & sealed with the o-rings, so lube can't do any thing for them. About the only purpose chain lube serves is to prevent rust and keep the side plates from binding. That tutorial said, I use Chain Wax by Maxima. The carrier that sprays it on the chain dries immediately, leaving a dry waxy coating that doesn't hold dust or grit such as you & have to deal with. Good Stuff!

Dale,
The very best "oil" to use on an o-ring type chain is NONE! The O-ring chain is prelubed at the factory, that's what the O rings are for, to keep in the grease. After a wet ride and a good washing you might want to spray some rust preventative on the chain like WD-40 or LPS. AVOID the sticky chain lubes like the plague. Even if they say they are safe for O-ring chains. These will trap dirt on the O-rings and eventually ruin them, thus ruining the chain. Hope this helps!

Yea but ,How do you get that unremovable slime off the chain and sprokets after about 800 miles of ridding?

Do not use a chain lube on o-ring chains!!! Only use WD40 or similar product. As already stated, o-ring chains already have the oil sealed into them for the life of the chain.
Chain lubes or other oils get very tacky which attracts dirt particles which in turn slowly grind away the o-rings then the chain is junk.
If you don't believe me, contact some chain manufacturers(D.I.D, E.K, R.K, Tsubaki, etc.)
