Default Durability of Tires

Hi All,

We are new to riding and I am curious about the resistance of the average ATV tire to nails. We live in an area that has a lot of old mining artifacts which is pretty cool, but we are wondering how one of those tires holds up if it hits a nail the wrong way.

Thanks a lot!

First off, most all stock tires are garbage! Get some good aftermarket rubber. On my sport bikes I run ITP Holeshot XC's (6-ply rear and 4-ply front), which are nearly indestructible. On the utilities, I run ITP ATR's (6-ply all the way around). My tires have never let me down!

That said, any tire can be punctured by a nail. Carry some CO2 catrtidges and a tire plug kit.

And, list the bikes you have in your signiture. It helps us better answer your questions.

If you're really concerned, you can get some Goodyear Mudrunner Runflat tires. The only drawback is that they're $$$$ (about $80-$90 a piece).
