Final drive gear ratio and stock tire size of 400 EX?
#1
Sorry for all the questions guys but I need a lot of help to understand these things. I've read conflicting statements of 0-60 times and top speed of this model. With the final gear ratio, the tire size and the rpm(9000) top speed can be calculated. If anyone out there knows the ratio to each of the five speeds and the counter sprocket and sprocket count this would be beneficial as well at determining drag times and mph at each shift point. I have the weight and hp.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Here is a list from my owners manual,
rear tire size= 20x10-9
max engine rpm stock= 9100
primary reduction ratio= 2.826
1st gear ratio= 2.971
2nd gear ratio= 1.938
3rd gear ratio= 1.471
4th gear ratio= 1.182
5th gear ratio= 1.000
sprockets f/r 15/38
to get the final drive gear ratio devide 15by 38
I think I came up with 72mph when I checked the 400EX with this formula, and around 74mph if you go to 22" rear tires like on the 300EX.

Thanks, I ordered both sprockets and of course one of them is wrong (the front one). I have put the rear 39 on and I am back to wheeling all over the place. It's hard to believe one tooth on a sprocket can make a difference. Once the 14 comes in for the front I'll post my findings.
