Default I Razr Tires ???

I have run mostly ITP Holeshot XC's for an all around desert tire. XCT's occasionally, but only on a bike that has been widened (makes things a little tippy if the machine is not widened).

Anyway, the Holeshots aren't radials and my EX is due for new rubber soon, so I was thinking about the I Razrs. Any opinions on this as a desert tire??? The best desert tires seem to have a square profile and a large number of traction blocks. On the rear, the Razrs blocks seem rather widely spaced. Wider spaceing sheds mud better, but mud isn't a factor at all in the desert.

Cant help you with the desert aspect..here in MI the only "desert" we have is dunes..lol..however I run both Holeshots xc's and Razr radials..I like the Holeshots cause they seem to wear better..with plus they dont "squat" as much when throttle is applied..but in the mud the razr's do clean better..and have better forward traction.

It is funny that many folks think of the desert as just a big sand box. In fact, big sand dunes are pretty rare even in the desert. In one ride you will encounter almost anything......hardpack, silt, rocks, sand, fast wide open washes, little tight technical trails, etc., etc. You need to be able to handle anything that comes along.........

I also do a lot of semi-technical mountain trail riding on the 400EX, so I think I will give the Razrs a try on that machine first???

That's odd, maxxis doesnt say anything about that in their description of the tire...

I read it in the Tire Selection Guide in ATV SPORT magazine. I forgot what month issue it is, but on the cover, it had an orange Predator that they were working on to make it a dune racer (Helped by Ducan Racing).

Well, you are going to have to define "trail riding". There are plenty of tight, technical trails in the desert! Just like woods riding, except you are squeezing it between rocks and cactus, instead of trees.

Plus I have lots of single track woods trail riding in my local mountains.
