Mudrunners- pretty good tire from what I've heard- IF you have a money tree growing in your yard. Those darn things are close to $100 apiece. For cheaper than that, you could get Vamps or Claws or somthing that is a real top class mud tire. If, of course, a true mud tire is what you want. Good year makes good stuff, but you also pay for their darn name. Thats a wash. You might check out the new GBC tires. They may have something attractive, and they are cheap. 28" tires in the high $70's.

TireDepot has Mudrunners for under $70 a piece. I for one dont consider that to be a bad price for a true mud tire.

In regards to a great all around tire and mudder for the Recon, I can personally attest to the Trailwolf. Put four on mine, with new rims, for larger tires and spent under $90.00 a piece. That thing would go through about anything, and the open lug design sleaned itself very well.

We have one Trailwolf on our Beartracker. It is a very close match to the OEM tires on the Bear, infact its almost an exact match tread pattern (thats why we got it, it was a better tire for about 1/2 the price of a new Dunlop from Yamaha). The rim guard feature is very nice. But I am not impressed with the traction that the Beartracker has. It gets stuck all the time in areas that the stock tires on the Recon wade right through. Plus I would either have to get a 25 inch tire or bigger rims to use the TrailWolf. We are going to try Strykers on the Beartracker after Christmas and hopefully that will help.
Still am not sure what to get for the Recon though.

A wider rear tire on a 2wd will help you out in almost any condition except snow. For mud, wider is better.

Believe it or not, earlier this year, I found a little muddy hill that my 300 honda 2wd would go up easier than my 500 AC 4x4. Basically, the tradeoff was that the honda weighed about 200lbs less and had 12" wide rear tires. Even if they were crappy SAM's club Carlisle Turfbusters. The AC had stock 495 Titans 10.5" wide. (really like 9.5" wide)

I loved them .the have been on my tagalong(atv) for 20 years and not a bit of problem . I ran the woods ,climbed steep hillside only rolling it twice tore up green grasses in the 20 years I've had her. These tires are amazing . But now it's time for a new set as they are pretty worn down. But no such luck in getting them. They no longer make spiders tracks. But they are excellent tires.
