Default Mud-type tire for a sport quad??

Hey,

i'm looking for a tire that's fairly aggressive, yet still compable of being used on a sport quad. i want a 22" tall tire, and it needs to fit on my 9" rims. terrain ranges from light mud, to soft sandy soil, to hard pack. i don't want something that weighs a ton, or that rides super rough if i'm going fast down a gravel road, and it needs to be capable of sliding in turns. so in other words, i'm not looking simply for an all out mud tire, but rather a sport tire that is capable in the slick stuff.

so i'd like to hear some comparisons of a few tires. tire wear, weight, tread depth, ride quality, traction in different terrains, etc. here are some tires i've found thus far that seem to meet my specifications:

Sur-Tracs - 22x11x9
Dirt Devils - 22x11x9
BearClaws - 22x12x9
Spider Tracs - 22x12.5x9
Mud Lites - 22x11x9
Gators - 22x11x9 (1.25" tread depth)

so what are your thoughts on the mud/sport usefulness of these tires? any conditions that these tires will come up lacking in?

also, does anybody have better tire prices that RMATV? (dennis kirk says they'll beat any advertised price by $1)

and if you have any pics of one of these tires mounted on your sport quad, i'd be interested in seeing how it looks.

thanks,
bigmac

I have the 22x12x9 bearclaws on my recon and love them. They are a great trail tire that ride and handle just as good as stockers but have way better bite in the mud. To my surprise they slide way easier then the recon's stockers did and I can do a donut anywheres I want to. They are also good if you drive pavement ecause they wera really good.

Oh yeah the bearclaws only downfall is that they don't clean out well in really thick mud. I have never seen a 22" gator with a 1.25" deep lug, that is only for tires over 26". I know a guy with gators and he says they are really good at sliding and I thin they weigh lighter then the bearclaws and also do a little better in the mud.

I don't know if this is what your looking for. I have a 300 ex, I used to have a set of realtors 22x12x9 on it. I rode in everything. Mud, snow, sand, gravel, mx tracks. They got around pretty good. On hard packed dirt they grabbed a little more than I liked, but they were still a very good tire.

I've ran a set of ITP Spider Tracs through quite a bit of mud, not sure of sizing availability.
