Default trouble removing wheel from ATV

I recently purchased a set of XTR's and had them installed on cheap after market steel rims. I wish to remove the wheels and tires and it took me over an hour just to get one off. The next one is going to be a similar problem. The problem lies with the fact that the hole size in the rim is EXACTLY the same size as the wheel bolt and also, the hole is not tapered to accomodate the tapered nut. The only way I could get the first one off was to hit the rear of the wheel near the bolt at the back with an iron bar and large hammer. Even then, it only moved very fractionally. I then had to turn the tire to the next bolt and do the same procedure again. Any ideas on how to get them off easier?? Also, once I do get them off (if ever) could I drill or file the holes a little large remebering that they are not countersunk? Also, could I countersink the holes myself a little? Any ideas appreciated. Thanks.

Common rookie mistake....did it once myself! You should have turned the nut around, flat side in, and put a washer under it.
