rebuilding shocks
hey guys, I just bought a used PEP rear shock for my TRX250r but when it got to me the steel braided hose that connects the resivoir to the shock was so badly kinked that it was actually leaking fluid. I got a new hose mad and thats fine but now my dealer is telling me that in order to re fill the shock as ressy with fluid i have to have the entire shock rebuilt. Is this true or is my dealer just trying to screw me. He said it'll take about 1 to 1.5 hrs to do but the kicker is their shop rate is $96/hr. And they're the only place in the city that is willing to do it. Anyways I heard of people rebuilding their shocks at home and doing just fine. Anybody done this before???? Thanks

Man your local shop might think they know how to build a ATV shock and if you don't know the differce between what there going to do and what Mark Baldwin would do go a head. I done it both ways and the local way is like p ssing your money away. You purchase some of the best shooks on the market, but no one knows your PEP shocks like Mark at Baldwin Motorsports. I've wasted alot of money trying to save money and time. So take this for what it worth. Good luck on what ever you do.

When you have custom aftermarket shocks, you just expect to have to ship them somewhere to get worked on......it goes with the territory. Nobody is going to know your PEP shocks better than PEP!
I always keep my old stock shocks, so I can throw them back on when my aftermarkets are off getting rebuilt.
