Default Anybody modify aftermarket CVT springs --- cut or heat them?

I bought a used 2004 Polaris Scrambler 500 4x4 with the typical muffler, air filter, and clutch mods. But I hated the really high RPM CVT clutch engagement. After looking at a stock spring and the aftermarket primary spring - the aftermarket spring was over an 1" longer.

I was going to buy a different spring but the crazy shipping charges were more than the spring!

Simple propane torch and heated up the spring. Reinstalled to compress it. I was able to shorten the spring by 3/4". Now I can use reverse without the need to the reverse saftey overide.

The Mod to the longer heavey clutch spring worked great. Perfect for my type of riding. Spent 8hrs and went through 3 counties in WV...
