It seems like a lot of the pros go with the RazorII in front and Razor in the rear in some of the conditions like you describe. I say this based on many magazine photos of some of the top sport quad riders in the nation.

I ride desert, and woods trails in my local mountains. On my 400 and 450's I have run the Holeshot XC's for years and years. I have occasionally tried other tires (including other types of Holeshots), but I always return to the XC's. Absolutely indestructible! They are certainly not a "dune" tire, however.
I currently have the TracStar radials on the 250's. These are superb tires! They really contribute to the quality of the ride and to the suspension! They are 6-ply, and tough as any tire can get (even in the hands of teenage kids). I have not tried them on the bigger quads yet, because I want to go with the bigger size (23" front and 22" rear), and I have not been able to find those.

whatever you use on the back......the razr2 fronts are great.im using razr2's all the way around. i also use a mud tire maxxis sur-trac on the back of my 250r.its a 22" and works really well, unfortunately its only a 2 ply tire.
