I have just recently purchased boht the Bear Claws and the Mud Lites and, although both are good in the mud, in my experience with serious mud the Mud Lites win hands down.

For what you described for your riding the 'bear claws' should do just fine. From what I have read and heard they are about in the 'middle of the road' for smoothness on the trail - which is something you can live with. The good is that they are above the average for traction over a wide range of surfaces. A very good general purpose trail tire. There are a few that may be a little better but there are many that are a lot worse. And the ones that may be a little better are only better in certain situations that may or may not be noticable.
You made a good choice and should be very satisfied with the overall performance.

I wouldnt recommend them for pure mud, but for the 75/25 riding you do, I think you made a good choice.

they will probably do pretty good for your situation.

I have only had one problem with mine on a 250cc 2wd machine in small creek gravel it wants to dig in and get me stuck.

We had the same (digging in) problem with our 2-wheel drive in the mud - very annoying. Does anyone else have this problem?

Well the good thing about 2wd and being a 250(especially when in water in the creek) you can lift it out of its hole that it digs.

The Claws are an excellent all-around tire. Tough, wear like iron, good ride on hard pack. A lot to like about the Claws...
