Dirt Devil II or Swamp Lite
#1
Its time for a new set of tires for my Prairie 300, and I've narrowed it down to two: the Dirt Devil II or the Swamp Lite. I read good things about both of them on this forum, but I haven't been able to get a good comparison between them. I will be sticking with the stock 25" size. I do mostly trail riding with the occasional mud or rock, and I plow my driveway in the winter. Which is a better tire? I've heard the Swamp Lites don't wear as long, but the Dirt Devils are heavier.
I am also considering switching to a set of stock set of aluminum rims off a Prairie 650 to shave off some of the weight of my stock steel wheels. Is that worth it?

Look at my pics to see the Swamplites. They are great on rocky, rough terrain, snow, mud, or whatever. I have over 1000 miles on mine and they still look new. If you plan on riding tar roads, they will wear down fast, otherwise they last forever

I have the original Dirt Devils on my Grizzly and I think they are a major improvement over stock. I almost got the DD II's when I bought these but I got a better deal on the original Dirt Devils. Great tire. You do about the same type of riding I do and I haven't been disappointed yet in the Dirt Devils. I also ride on a lot of tar and after a couple of hundred miles on tar alone, I haven't noticed any wear. I've heard the SwampLites are a good tire too so whatever you choose, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

why would anyone drive a quad on a ROAD??.....I mean for anything more than a few hundred feet here and there?..
ATVs have no rear differential so the rear tires scrub like hell every time you turn.

kevint there are atvs that have a differential like a truck. Polaris has the X2, 800 touring, and the older ATP that have a differential like a truck. There are many times we are on the roads in WV for 1-2 miles to get between areas of riding.

what is the chance? i was just going to post this exact question! its good to hear they are both good, i'm going with the 2's because of the **** on the bare part of the tire, the lites have holes in the tread witch probably grip great but might wear down alittle more on harder surfaces than the 2's, just my opinion! great @~%$# forum!

LOL....sorry wasnt aware of those models have a differential....do they have a locking mechanism so BOTH wheel can be locked together for good traction??
im curious cause that seems to be a good idea...I know its MUCH cheaper to just make both wheels solidly connected but it makes steering harder on hard surfaces or low speeds...cool idea!
