Default Carrying Extra Tires

I have read in a couple threads that some of you carry extra tires with you when you are riding. I do not know if you carry them on your quad or just have them on hand at the truck if needed.

My question is how many of you do this and to what degree. Meaning do you have extra wheels and tires already mounted for a quick swap out with a flat. Or do you just have extra tires and need to mount and dismount the wheel and tire when you get a flat.

I'm asking because I have three bikes with different size tires on front and back of all three so should I stock extra wheels and tires all the way around for all three quads?

Default Carrying Extra Tires

First off, I run Fix-a-Flat in all my tires, all the time. It will seal any thorn ******, and that will take care of 98% of your problems. (I use to use Slime, but found that it just dried up after a while, leaving a useless hard crust inside the tire.)

For bigger holes that the fix-a-flat won't seal, get a plug kit. I carry both the car type cords, and the ATV specific plugs (for bigger holes).

And...some CO2 cartridges to reinflate your tires. I find it takes 1 cartridge to reair the tire an find the hole (the fix-a-flat will gurgle out), the 1 to 2 cartridges to get it back up to riding pressure after plugging the hole.

Some stock tires are good, and some are not. My 90 has stockers on (nearly worn out), and it is 10 years old. I found the stock Recon tires to be surprisingly good! The stock 250EX tires, replace them ASAP.

In all these years of riding quads, I have never had to ride home on a flat tire!!! Carrying extra tires is just not necessary...and would be pretty hard to do on a sport quad!
