I just bought an 03 Z400 and I need to get new tires and wheels. I would like to get some tires for the dunes and new trail tires. The tires I have on it are
22x7x10 and 20x11x9

Can somebody make a recommendation on what tires and wheels I should buy for the dunes and another set for the trails. I also need to know where the best place to buy them is.

I figure that I'll just get the dune tires mounted on new rims and use the old rims for the trail tires. Thanks

 

For desert cross country, I run ITP Holeshot XC's on ITP Baja rims (these tires are indestructible!). Nice thing is, the tires are wider than stock, and the rims are wider than stock and have a greater offset. So, the quad ends up +3-4" wider, for a nice increase in stability!

For dunes, I run the light buffed down Skat-Trak Edges (V-shaped paddles), on ITP T-9 rims. Again, the rims are wider and have a greater offset, and the tires are light and wide, so again I get a nice stability increase!

Gave the stock rims away to somebody who bent theirs, as I recall.

 

Since most of my trail riding is in dirt vs sand will the Holeshot XC's still be the best choice?
