What size tires replacing stock ones?
#1
I'm going to replace my stock tires with a bit more aggressive ones - thinking Mudlites or Mudlite XTRs. Unfortunately, I can't afford new rims at this point as well so will be running stock rims still.
Current tires are 25x8-12 front and 25x11-12 rear. From what I've read I think i can go 26" with little difficulty and loss of power but am a bit confused about the other dimensions and what will work on my stock rims. Do i need to stick with the same dimensions ie: 26x8-12 and 26x11-12 when I upsize? If I go 10-12 front and 12-12 rear am I risking rubbing at all without modding or cutting? I'm finding the 10-12 rear are a lot easier to find online (eBay) than the 11-12 but don't think I really want to go narrower than stock, correct?
Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum. There are so many variations in tire size it's ridiculous. A 26" tire can be anywhere between 25 and 27 inches! People in the Cat section should be able to tell you about rubbing/clearance issues on bigger sizes. You really need to find someone with the same model ATV and tires. I'm sorry if this all sounds vague but here's what I can tell you:
USUALLY, on most ATVs, you can go 1 inch taller without re-clutching or major clearance problems. You really don't want to go any narrower than stock. MAYBE 1 inch wider won't rub on anything. Sometimes wider front tires will rub on the tie-rod ends of certain ATVs unless you add wheel spacers, but the rear tires wil be okay.
Good luck.
