I have read numerous things on atv alignment all seem to be directed to 2-wheel drive atv's. Should the toe-in be 1/4" on 4x4 atv's too? Or should it have toe-out? Any help would be great.

 

Mine is supposed to be toed OUT. What are you riding.

i set mine slightly out. that way when you sit on it and give it some gas the wheels will straighten out while riding. of course i have it set up for me personally (i45lbs) so when my 280 pound cousin gets on they end up toed in.

 

The only way the toe would change with the weight of the rider is if the quad doesn't have dual a-arms or someone wrecked the quad. I know I wouldn't want my toe flipping in and out everytime I hit a bump.

In general, toe out gives more responsive steering and toe in, less. Either way will wear your tires. If your goal is to have zero toe when driving, then 99% of the time you set the toe a little in. That way when all the slop in your a-arms is taken up, the toe will be zero. Its possible that AWD quads should be set toed out so when the front wheels pull, the resulting toe will be zero. However, when you hit the brakes, the quad might feel a little squirrelly.

I reset it to zero and it feels much more stable.

Is the grizzly full time 4 wheel drive? If so, it will naturally toe itself in since the front wheels pull the slack in the chassis. So, if you toe it in, it will REALLY be toed in when those front wheels start pullin. Try toe out a bit and see.

If yer ridin' a POLARIS, jumbofrank, you were probably right the first time !!! (hee,hee,hee, I'm so evil !!!) Just kidding, couldn't believe no one else caught that one !!
As far as toe, I have heard it both ways, 1/8" toe in, 1/4" toe out, zero, so the best thing to do would probably find out what the factory settings are, try them, and if you feel like experimenting, try both toe in and out to see if it affects handling positively or negitively.
