Default Transverse Mounted Engine?

I'm making a custom dune buggy and am going to be running a CVT. Here is my problem. I want to run the engine transverse to the vehicle (CVT belt running along the axis of the car) and also want to run a differential in the rear. I'm having trouble finding a stock diff. that I can run a chain to from a jackshaft out of the secondary clutch.

Basically I'm looking for any ATV that has a differential and a transverse mounted engine, I can do the rest of the research (unless one of you already knows of one that has exactly what I'm looking for).

Thanks in advance to anyone who contributes!

The Honda utes and 250EX are the only ones that are transverse mounted. Already has a shaft coming out the back, and the transmissions are already integral parts of the engines, so you just need a diff and forget all that other crap like a CVT!

The problem with that is that this is for a competition and I have a required engine that I have to use. This engine has a bare shaft and the design is already set up to run a CVT.

Honda isn't the only one. The Polaris Ranger RZR has been using a transverse mounted engine from day one. The new Sportsmnan XP 850 is also a transverse mounted engine. They both use CVTs and you could probably use parts from either one.

You sure didn't make that clear in your original post!

But he did say he was going to use a CVT. I took that to mean just what he said, no matter the reason why.

>>>>>>>>>>>>&g t;>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>&g t;>>>>>>>>>>>> >>

you say that with pretences as if polaris has been doing this forever. day one for the RZR was, what, about 2yrs ago? honda has been doing this since at least 1998, they were the first to do it and still do it.

but yes if he wants a cvt / transverse engine combo already get the polaris setup as it will be an easier project. hopefully you can find one at some salvage yard or a used one for decent price and part it out. i dont even want to know what a new engine cvt setup from the dealer would cost.

I'm not saying it with any pretences. I'm just saying the RZR has always had the transverse engine since the day it was made. You can read into that whatever you want as long as you don't put words into my mouth. I don't know exactly how long it's been out and don't care if it's been a week, a couple months, or a few years. It's been long enough for some of us to know about it. If it matters to you look it up.
