Pure Sport Bandits vs. Razrs???
#1
I am still undecided for my new tires. I really had my mind set on some 20" and 21" Razrs for my Scrambler 4x4. But upon looking at the tread pattern and the ground clearance I would loose(1") I was thinking of the Bandits. They seem to be more aggressive and the front tires have some diagonal lugs..thus helping out the 4x4. The Razrs I have up front now carve great but have no forward pull in mud. I am used to running Bearclaws in the back so I don't want to end up with no mud traction at all.
Anybody run the Bandits? Are the front stiff enough to avoid sidewall flex and still carve good? How do the rears do? Weight?
Thanks again guys! I will make a decision one of these days...

Hey Xplor:
I made some calls today. It seems that Douglas makes some rims that will make the front 2" wider on both sides. I can get backs that will make it 1 or 2 inches wide. Do you think 4" wider on the front would be a good idea or not? If so what about the rear 1 or 2? They did not have 1" wider for the fronts.

Kevin, If it were up to me I would go no farthur than 1" per side up front. I have seen numerous posts about tires "pushing" in corners if too wide. Plus I also hear they can "jarr" the handle bars when hitting an obstacle because of the extended leverage on the wheels. But take it for what it's worth because I am by far not an expert. As for the rear I may go 2 inches on each side maybe...it all depends on the tire you are running. My present tires are already wider than stock but if I get the Razrs, I will loose an inch off what I have now.
I spoke with Douglas directly for a good 30 minutes and they had nothing to make the rear end wider...unless you are planning on getting 10" rims in the back? That may be it.. If not, tell me what you know.
Plus I remember you asking about T-9 rims from ITP. If I am not mistaken aren't they the .190's but the improved version they have out this past year. Stronger and more reliable than there last model???
