Curious what the stock tires and wheels on my kodiak weigh?

Seems easy to just pull them off and set them on the bathroom scale........

Yeah if I had the time to break them down and do them individually. I'm mostly curious about the tires themselves.

Removing 4 bolts is a big deal for you??? Or are you interested in the weights of the rims/tires seperately??? Still, weighing them mounted should give you a pretty good idea......

 

You were kidding right???? No 4 bolts is not a big deal for me. Breaking the tire down to get seperate weights is though. I could do it, but I just don't have time. Work is crazy right now. I'm looking to order tires next week and just trying to get all the info I can before I order. I've been told that I shouldn't go to much heavier than stock on a smaller quad, but maybe it isn't that big of a deal. Being how no one has that info handy.

 

You could go the the web site of the manufacture of your tires and find out what just the tire weight is .

 

Rotating weight on a wheel is the hardest force to overcome (and hardest to stop when you put on the brakes). Bicycle riders have known this in spades for a hundred years. I learned the hard way that heavy tall monster tires will stroke your ego, but are really a very dumb idea.

 

Stock Yamaha tires are light for a bad reason,they are cheap 2 ply tires with small 1/2" lugs, good for a light sport ATV but bad for a Utility ATV that go over god knows what type of terrain. Most manufacturers are cheap with there stock tires to reduce cost.

Half wore out 6ply aftermarket tires with 7/8" to1-1/8" lugs and 1500 miles on them are tougher,look better and have better traction than many "new" stock tires.

 

I'm planning on sticking with the factory size. Although the bigger tires would help overcome what god didn't want me to have. I've never bought tires for an atv before so this is a new game for me. I have a serious issue with over researching every purchase I make though. Hence asking simple questions.
