It depends partly on the terrain you're riding. You could try 5 psi and see how it rides. Adjust from there.

I usually run anywhere from 3.5 to 7 depending on what I'm doing and how/where I'm riding.

8 in the front, 7 in rear (Kawasaki Prarie 400 4x4). I just put new Carlisle tires on the back and on the sidewall info it says 7 max, but I was running that way before anyway. However, when I have my Mooseplow on to push snow I air up another 7 on both to handle the extra weight (easier to steer too). Usually, your manual should tell you how to air, do that to begin then adjust if you feel something isn't to your liking.

I ride on trails with alot of sand. I run between 3 and 5 psi in my LT 230. Its amazing how much better traction you get with less air. Gotta be careful though if you hit hard with a tire that has little air its more likely to come off the rim. So it kinda depends on what kind if riding your doing.

Alot depends on the tire. I've got Kenda Bearclaw HTR's on my Rubicon and 4psi seems to work pretty good. With radials you want that "pooch" at the bottom like a truck tire.

Your gonna want lower pressure for messy terrain such as sand or rocks. Higher pressures for terrain that requires less traction like groomed or kept up surfaces.
